About E40 Waterway Notes
Independent notes in English and Russian on the E40 inland waterway plan between the Baltic and the Black Sea.
About this address
From 2017 to 2025 this address carried the website of a public campaign against the renovation of the E40 waterway, in Russian and English. After that the old site went offline and the address passed through other hands. E40 Waterway Notes is written by new, independent editors. It is not the website of the Stop E40 campaign, of the Save Polesia coalition or of any of their member organisations, is not affiliated with them or endorsed by them, and shows none of their text, photos or logos. It runs no petition, collects no donations, takes no members and names no campaigners or experts.
Why each page ends with a Dutch energy guide
The E40 route runs along the Pripyat through the Chernobyl zone, and through the border region where the war of 2022 began, which sent European gas and power prices soaring. Both threads end on a Dutch household's energy bill: the stroometiket that shows where electricity comes from, and the 2023 price cap. Each page follows one of those lines and closes with the full Dutch guide of energievergelijken.io.
